Balgowlah House

The clients loved the coastal location of their home and wanted to expand the existing solid building to accommodate their family as they grew. The existing house was structurally sound so we looked to retain as much as possible, while adding a second level for bedrooms that take in the ocean views.

The new design opens the rear of the house to improve the interface between the living spaces and garden and create a visual line of sight through to the outdoors. The upper level has been designed to open out to the northern street aspect, with a 'wrapped' roof form to provide privacy from the sides.
